A Day at the Movies
by Christian
There are some things in this world that we do not understand. Mysterious, arcane things, which the knowledge of has been guarded for millennia. Things like demons, Faeries, phantoms, and much, much more. Throughout history these things these things have slipped into our world. They don’t leave witnesses. But a small number of people have survived these lethal encounters with these beings. I am one of them. And I know all of their stories by heart. But for now I’ll only tell one. This story is a closely guarded secret. Like nuclear weapons, in the wrong hands it could be used to wreak havoc. So be silent and listen to the tale I tell. The Mustang raced down the old country road, like a cheetah in pursuit of prey. There were three people in the car, whose names were Caleb, Ashley, and Jake. “Slow down!” Jake said from the passengers’ seat. “If I don’t hurry we’re going to be late!” Caleb said sharply. “Cool down guys, the theaters right there.” Ashley, Caleb’s girlfriend, said from the back seat. The car eased to a stop in front of a dark, foreboding building that looked more like a fortress than a movie theatre. They got out of the car and started towards the entrance. Caleb pushed open the heavy wooden doors with ease. The inside was amazing. There were people everywhere, fanatics for every genre. The three friends searched for a movie. They finally found one 15 minutes later. The room was small, dark and smelled musty. It was perfect. They sat there for a while, until suddenly the lights went out. It was pitch black in the room. Suddenly a piercing, bloodcurdling scream sounded throughout the movie theatre. “Oh my God.” Jake said shakily. “What was that? “ Ashley said nervously. “I don’t know, but I’m going to find out.” Caleb said. “You two make your way to the entrance, I’ll meet you there.” They agreed and they split up. Once his friends were on their way, Caleb crept down the hallway to where the scream came from. He traveled in silence, trying not to draw attention to himself. When he reached the next room, he saw a body. He looked and saw it was untouched. He had died of fright. Caleb peeked into the room, and what he saw horrified him. There were bodies scattered all across the room, all perfect and untouched. And in the middle of the room, a hulking thing stood there. Its glowing yellow eyes stared right at him. He turned and sprinted down the hallway, with the thing in close pursuit. He saw Ashley and Jake standing near the entrance, waiting for him “Get out!” he bellowed, “Get out now!” Ashley and Jake obeyed and rushed out of the theatre. The thing almost had him. He could hear it panting behind him. But he burst out of the theatre and looked behind him. The thing was standing there, staring at him. Caleb realized it couldn’t leave the theatre. The creature growled and slowly backed into the dark theatre. Caleb stood transfixed for a moment then turned and raced after his friends, never to return to this awful place.
